OUR STORY

Our vision for Bambarra Rum began with the desire for the Turks and Caicos Islands to have its own distinctive rum, just as many of our neighboring Caribbean islands do. We invested great care in sourcing the finest Caribbean rums for blending, ensuring that our final product truly represents the culture and heritage of these islands.

Inspired by one of our original settlements in the beautiful Middle Caicos, we named our rum after Bambarra Beach—the home of African settlers who arrived on our shores in 1841 after the slave trader Trouvadore ran aground. Upon landfall, they claimed their freedom on these very shores, planting the seeds of a vibrant nation. With them came traditions and culture that still thrive today—colorful masquerading parties, intricate craft weaving, and, of course, the artistry of smoothly blended sugar cane rum.

We believe our rum reflects this proud legacy. Both our White and Gold 2-Year-Old blends are remarkably smooth for such young rums, delicious sipped neat but truly coming alive in classic cocktails such as Cuba Libres, Mojitos, and rum punch. Our 8-Year-Old blend is exceptionally smooth, revealing notes of vanilla, oak, cinnamon, and nutmeg in both aroma and palate. We recommend enjoying it on the rocks first, then exploring it in premium cocktails where its richness and character can truly shine.

In a wonderful twist of fate, we learned that the U.S.-funded Ships of Discovery Marine Archaeology Institute has announced—after 15 years of searching—that they have located the wreck of the Trouvadore. This historic ship not only inspired our rum but also served as a cultural catalyst for the development of our nation more than 150 years ago. To honor this significant discovery, we donate a portion of our proceeds from Bambarra Rum to the Turks & Caicos National Museum in Grand Turk and the TCI National Trust. Both organizations safeguard our invaluable historical treasures, including those on Middle Caicos—the very birthplace of Bambarra Rum.

The 8 year old blend is exceptionally smooth and displays strong Vanilla, Oak, Cinnamon and Nutmeg notes in both the nose and on the pallet. This rum should first be enjoyed on the rocks and also in premium cocktails where the richness and character of the blend will come through.

It is also with excitement and result of a lucky twist of fate that the US funded Ships of Discovery Marine Archeology Institute have announced that they are confident that after 15 years of searching they have found the wreck of the Trouvadore - the ship that was the inspiration for this rum and also the cultural link that fueled the development of this nation over 150 years ago. To honour this discovery and the cultural significance it represents, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Bambarra Rum will be donated to the Turks & Caicos National Museum in Grand Turk, and the TCI National Trust, both of which protect and honour our valuable historical assets, including those on Middle Caicos, the inspiration for Bambarra Rum.

This a gem of a rum! It is impossible for me to overstate the perfect balance exhibited between all of the competing aspects of Bambarra Reserve.
